Chargers GM Tom Telesco Speaks Out on the Absence of RB Melvin Gordon

Everyone is saying all the right things in regards to running back Melvin Gordon and his future with the Chargers – yet the running back is nowhere to be found.

Thursday it was Chargers general manager Tom Telesco’s time to do the talking about Gordon, stating that he has nothing but ‘love’ for Gordon, and that he’s going to be a member of the Bolts franchise.

“I love Melvin Gordon,” Telesco said. “He’s an excellent player. He’s tough. He has a great work ethic and represents our organization extremely well. But he’s not here.

“I understand his thoughts and opinions of what he’s going through. I always look at the player’s side, so I can see it. It doesn’t mean I agree with it, but I can kind of see what his thought process is.

“I’m not naive: I know we’re better with Melvin Gordon, but we’ve got a strong group of guys that are here, and it’s their time to work and get ready to go.”

Gordon’s summer holdout started on Wednesday as he looks for a better deal from the franchise after a solid season in which he helped the team make the AFC Divisional Round of the postseason.

The running back is set to make $5.6 million this season
