Wide receiver Roscoe Parrish was one of players released by the San Diego Chargers today, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
He signed a one-year deal in April but became dispensable with the emergence of wide receiver/returner Micheal Spurlock.
Parrish, 30, spent his first seven seasons in Buffalo. His 12.0-yard career average on punt returns is second only to Devin Hester (12.9) since 2005.
The Chargers also released wide receivers Jason Barnes, Taylor Embree and Phillip Payne, running back Michael Hayes, defensive tackle Eddie Brown, long snapper Nick Guess, tight end Brad Taylor and offensive tackle Phil Trautwein.
Rookie guard Johnnie Troutman, a fifth-round pick who tore his pectoral muscle less than two weeks before the draft, was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. Veteran guard-tackle Brandyn Dombrowski went onto the reserve/non-football illness due to a cyst on his foot.
