RB Matthews a Rookie That Could Be an Instant Starter for Chargers

Pro Football Weekly has an interesting article on rookie players that could make big impacts in their first season with their new teams. Number 11 on the list is Chargers first round pick Ryan Matthews:

11. RB Ryan Matthews / Chargers (1st round / Fresno State; 12th overall; RB grade: B)

Skinny: The departure of LaDainian Tomlinson opened the door for Mathews, the 2009 FBS leader in rushing yards. He is a compact, physical back who absorbs contact and always keeps moving his feet downhill. Matthews does not have elite speed but does have excellent vision and a good feel for the game. Expected to handle early-down and goal-line work, he should get plenty of opportunities in San Diego’s high-powered offense.
