RB Justin Jackson in a Walking Boot, Gordon Doubtful to Play Sunday

Chargers running back Justin Jackson was spotted in a walking boot on Friday but head coach Anthony Lynn reiterated it is doubtful Melvin Gordon will make his 2019 debut against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday despite questions about the health of the current No.2 RB according to Eric Williams of ESPN.

Jackson was added to the Chargers’ injury report on Thursday and is clearly dealing with a significant issue. He should be considered very questionable for Sunday’s smash spot against the Dolphins. Austin Ekeler would get an even larger role if Jackson is ultimately sidelined.

As for Gordon, he just reported to the team on Thursday after a 64-game holdout and is likely not in game shape even to face the Grade Z roster in Miami. Lynn noted that he has faith in backup RBs Troymaine Pope and Detrez Newsome if Jackson is ultimately sidelined. Unmentioned in all the coach speak is the assumption that the Chargers do not need either Jackson or Gordon to handle the Dolphins on Sunday. Ekeler fantasy owners can count on one more big day from their temporary star.
