Philip Rivers Says He’s Staying Put with the Chargers in 2020

Veteran Philip Rivers says he has “every intention to be the Chargers quarterback in 2020” according to an interview on Xtra 1360.

Rivers and the Chargers are likely eyeing a contract extension in the near future, but he said he is not under immediate stress or urgency to reach a new deal. If an agreement isn’t reached, Rivers will play out the final year of his contract in 2019 while earning $19 million, but it would be shocking if the two parties don’t reach a deal before he becomes a free agent.

The 37-year-old Rivers has been the Chargers’ starting quarterback since 2006 and has not miss a single game in 13 seasons. 2018 was another great year for him as he threw for 4308 yards, 32 touchdowns to only 12 interceptions, and a stellar completion percentage of 68.3.
