Without the Pass Rushing Skills of Joey Bosa, the Chargers Can’t Get Any Heat on the QB

Not many people expected the Los Angeles Chargers to go into Los Angeles (huh) and beat their cross town rivals the Rams on Sunday.

Most betting sites such as www.canadasportsbetting.ca had the Chargers as a full seven-point favorite as they took the field Sunday.

So it was not much of a surprise in the outcome and that the Chargers, while putting up 23 points, were not able to keep up, as they fell eventually 35-23.

When you look at the betting lines for this upcoming week, the Chargers will be at home against the San Francisco 49’ers, a team that is going to be in severe transition as they lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL on Sunday in a loss to the Chiefs.

The early line for the game against the 49’ers has the Chargers favored by 9.5 points, a healthy number for the week four battle in Los Angeles.

Back to Sunday though, one of the biggest keys to the setback to the Rams was the Chargers inability to pressure Rams quarterback Jared Goff, and without Bolts pass rusher Joey Bosa, just were unable to get much heat on the Rams high powered thrower.

Goff was good all day, as he hit on 13 of his first 14 passes and 29 of 36 overall.

It was obvious the team missed Bosa, and by in large Goff was just too much for the Chargers and they just could not keep up when it came to matching points.

“You can’t give a team like that nothing,” coach Anthony Lynn said. “Their offense is very good. We couldn’t get off the field. We didn’t put enough pressure on the quarterback.”

The team is going to have to find different ways to get to the quarterback, and the latest is that Bosa and his bone bruise in his left foot will not allow him back to playing till sometime in October.

Defensive schemes, possible players sitting out there, or maybe even a trade? Those are about the only things the team can do different. Until then, the Bolts corners will be tested week in a week out no matter who the opposing quarterback is.
