The Chargers hosted eight free agents on Tuesday, coming out of it with center J.D. Walton. Here’s the report from the San Diego Tribune.
Eight players were hosted for a workout on a busy day of evaluation and roster moves. Along with Walton, tight ends Cameron Clear, Brian Vogler and Tevin Westbrook, outside linebackers Xzavier Dickson and Mike Reilly, and offensive linemen Joe Looney and tackle Byron Stingily were evaluated. The wide net not only assisted the team when making its roster decisions Tuesday but provided intel toward potential future ones, most likely to the practice squad.
Ultimately on Tuesday, San Diego signed Walton, promoted tackle Tyreek Burwell, and replaced Burwell on the practice squad with former Chargers center-guard Michael Huey.
Walton, by far, was the most experienced attendee Tuesday.
