Phillip Rivers Named Comeback Player of the Year

philliprivers

Congratulations to the Comeback Player of the Year. The NFL named San Diego Chargers’ Phillip Rivers of the award Saturday night.

Rivers took a team to the playoffs under first year head coach Mike McCoy. Rivers and the Chargers had not seen the playoffs since 2008 prior to their 9-7, 2013 season. Rivers played exceptionally well as the Chargers finished fourth in passing — averaging 270.5 yards a game.

Rivers finished the regular season passing for 4,478 yards for 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Rivers had a passer rating of 105.5.

The season before, Rivers’ stats were lower in every category. Rivers has now taken on a larger role and is looked at as the unquestioned leader on the team. Rivers and the Chargers hope to add onto their 2013 season in the future.
