Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding cut practice short on Friday because of a groin injury.
Kaeding who is 7-for-7 on field goals, hadn’t been listed on the injury report this season but was reported as limited on Friday.
“He was sore when he started kicking today, and wasn’t able to continue,” coach Norv Turner said. “That’s why he’s listed as limited.”
The Chargers will consult with Kaeding on Saturday in Kansas City.
If Kaeding isn’t cleared to play, it’s expected that Nick Novak would be on the short list of options. Novak replaced Kaeding last year after Kaeding’s ACL was torn in the opener.
“Tomorrow is the key day to see if he’s just sore or he strained something,” Turner said. “We’ve got to have a good plan for if Nate can kick and a plan if he can’t kick.”
