Chargers Name LB Coach John Pagano as New DC

Chargers announced that they promoted John Pagano from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator.

Pagano replaces Greg Manusky, who was fired earlier on Thursday.

“John has worked extremely hard and been very patient to get this opportunity,” head coach Norv Turner said. “I’m excited about John’s experience with this defense, his familiarity with our team and where we can go with his direction.”

The 44-year-old Pagano has been with the Chargers since 2001 and has coached the linebackers since 2005.
