Bolts Bury First Year Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky

The season that ended with the Chargers again missing the postseason has officially found its first scapegoat, as Thursday the team fired first-year defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.

San Diego ranked 16th in total defense, 20th against the run, 13th against the pass and created 21 takeaways in the first season under Manusky, who re-joined the Chargers after the spending the previous four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

Manusky was hired to replace Ron Rivera, who left to become the Carolina Panthers head coach. Under Rivera, the Chargers ranked 1st in total defense, including 4th against the run and 1st against the pass.

The next coordinator will be the third under head coach Norv Turner since 2007.
