2010 Look Back – Chargers Get to 1-1 with 38-14 Win Over the Jaguars

The look back at 2010 continues today, and today we have happier news as the team at 0-1 got to 1-1 on the year with a dominating 38-14 win over the Jags at home.

If a NFL team is going to be successful on any given Sunday, there is one important factor: try not to turn the ball over. Apparently the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t learn that lesson very well as they took on the San Diego Chargers Sunday afternoon at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Chargers defensive line made things unbearable for David Garrard as he threw four interceptions while Rivers had time in the pocket and connected on three touchdowns, allowing San Diego to easily dispose of Jacksonville 38-14.

Things didn’t look good initially as San Diego rookie running back Ryan Matthews had to leave the game in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle; he would not return. Fortunately, X-rays were negative.

Turnovers dogged Jacksonville as a blocked punt, followed by Antoine Cason’s interception, set up a Rivers-to-Antonio Gates score, allowing San Diego to take a 14-3 lead.
