It’s a few minutes from kickoff between the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos for Monday Night Football, and the word is in.
According to head coach Norv Turner, tight end Antonio Gates will not be playing today due to injury. Veteran tight end Randy McMichael will start in his place, and Kory Sperry, who was just promoted from the practice squad, will serve as his backup.
It’s always discouraging when Gates isn’t on the field, but with wide receiver Malcom Floyd back in the lineup and a couple young players proving they can contribute, quarterback Philip Rivers should have plenty of targets to throw to.
Let’s go Chargers!
