A Few Last Minute Roster Moves

Today, the Chargers decided to make a couple roster moves in preparation for their Monday night showdown against the Denver Broncos.

According to multiple sources, the Chargers have waived linebacker/defensive end Brandon Lang. Lang, who was a highly touted undrafted free agent, has played in seven games this season for the Chargers. He does not have any tackles, but has a blocked punt and has been credited with a safety.

Running back Curtis Brinkley has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for tonight’s game. Brinkley, who is also an undrafted free agent, has spent the season on the practice squad, but will be active tonight due to the offense being without rookie running back Ryan Mathews. He will play as a backup to starting running back Mike Tolbert.

Tight end Kory Sperry has also been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster in an attempt to shore up the tight end position that has been thin after losing Antonio Gates to foot and toe injuries. This isn’t a promising sign for Gates, who is listed as questionable for tonight’s game after missing the Chargers’ last game against the Houston Texans.
