Patriots Seeking Trade for Chargers’ WR Jackson

According to multiple sources, the New England Patriots have engaged in initial trade talks with the San Diego Chargers in hopes of acquiring wide receiver Vincent Jackson.

The main rumor going around right now is that the Chargers and the Patriots are looking at the possibility of swapping Jackson for the Patriots’ Pro-Bowl guard Logan Mankins, who is currently caught up in a contract holdout of his own

The Patriots are looking to find a replacement for veteran wide receiver Randy Moss, who they recently traded to the Minnesota Vikings. Now without Moss, they are looking to add another big playmaker at wide receiver to their offense.

Both players are currently holding out because they were hoping to receive a long-term deal and have expressed that they would both be fine with leaving their respective teams in a trade.

Despite confirmation of trade talks, the San Diego Union-Tribune termed the chances of the deal going through as “highly unlikely” as the asking price for Jackson would be too high for the Patriots, and the Chargers don’t need another high-caliber guard as they already have Louis Vasquez and Kris Dielman on their roster.

We’ll wait to see how this plays out, but don’t expect too much to come of this.
