Josh Reed First to Go as Today’s Cutdown Starts

As was expected, veteran wide receiver Josh Reed has been released, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Reed was initially brought in to provide some depth and veteran guidance with Vincent Jackson still holding out, but has been weak during the preseason, only managing to catch two balls for 25 yards.

Matters got even worse for Reed after the Chargers recently traded for veteran receiver Patrick Crayton, which made Reed expendable.

More cuts are set to come as the day rolls on. According to Kevin AceeĀ of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers will be releasing the final, 53-man roster at 3 p.m. today, so be sure to check back then for the final roster.
