A Few Notes from Chargers’ Training Camp

Nothing too spectacular to report today from down in Charger Town. Here are a few notes on what’s happened in the last day or so.

Veteran offensive tackle Tra Thomas had arthroscopic knee surgery today, which should keep him out for at least two weeks.

Rookie linebacker Donald Butler, who has had a promising start with the Chargers up to this point, was carted off of the field with an ankle injury today. Although the extent of the injury won’t be known until late tonight, it didn’t look too promising.

First-team left tackle Brandyn Dombrowski, who is currently taking reps in place of Thomas, had a much better practice after getting embarassed repeatedly by linebacker Larry English.

Fullback Mike Tolbert missed his third straight practice with a hamstring injury, but it is said to not be a huge setback for the promising fullback/running back/special teamer.

2009 fourth-round draft pick, guard Tyronne Green, has been working at the right tackle spot since the beginning of training camp and has shown some real promise. He spent most of mini-camp earlier in the summer working as a center, but could now push for some playing time at the right tackle spot.

So there are some updates for you on what is going on with the Chargers as the pre-season looms just around the corner. Come back tomorrow night for another update on what’s new from Bolts’ training camp.
