While conventional thinking suggested that LaDainian Tomlinson would wait until after the bye week to return to action, there’s increased optimism that he’ll play Sunday night against Pittsburgh. Tomlinson was a full participant at Chargers practice Thursday, the second straight session he has worked through unimpaired by the sprained right ankle he sustained during the season opener at Oakland. “That’s a good thing, and based upon what we’ve seen I’d say there’s a good chance (he’ll play Sunday),” Chargers head coach Norv Turner said. “I don’t want to be premature, and if he’s sore tomorrow and we have setback, everything changes. But right now, I’m hopeful.”
