Injured Chargers Returning to Practice

It was a welcome sight Wednesday when two Charger players who have not been able to participate since September 14th returned to the practice field

Ladainian Tomlinson, who has been rehabbing due to an ankle sprain, was back with the team and he participated fully in practice. After practice Tomlinson told reporters that his ankle felt good and that he was hopeful to able to play on Sunday against the Steelers. He did add that the real test would be how his ankle felt on Thursday.

Guard Louis Vasquez, who injured his knee, also practiced and was able to participate fully.

Coach Norv Turner said that he was hopeful that both players would be able to play Sunday night in Pittsburgh.

There are some other Charger players that were not ready to return to practice. Linebacker Shawne Merriman and defensive lineman Travis Johnson were both unable to practice due to groin injuries. Linebacker Antwan Applewhite did not practice due to his injured hamstring.

Punter Mike Scifres, who is still nursing a sore groin, was a limited participant, and center Nick Hardwick is still recovering from ankle surgery and will be out for another few weeks.
