DE Andre Coleman promoted from the Chargers practice squad

In a move that may signify that Jacques Cesaire may not be healthy enough to play tonight, today the Chargers have signed Defensive End Andre Coleman from the practice squad. Coleman will be active for tonight’s season opener against their division rival Oakland Raiders.

Cesaire missed the entire preseason due to a calf injury and has had very limited time on the practice field.

Coleman is no stranger to the Chargers playbook since he has been a member of the practice squad for the past two seasons. Coleman weighs in at 6’3”, 287 pounds and wears number 78.

In order to make room for the addition, today the Chargers cut running back Gartrell Johnson. Johnson was drafted this year by the Chargers in the forth round.
