Merriman Won’t Be 100 Percent Till Late September/Early October

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that LB Shawne Merriman won’t be 100 percent till late into the first month of the regular season:

Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman says his knee won’t be 100 percent until late September or October. “I think every seven days I make a jump,” he said. “That’s what it is right now. I feel a difference in my body every seven to 10 days.” Merriman expects opponents to attack and test his knee, which last September had the torn lateral collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee repaired. But he isn’t worried. “I think that it’s misunderstood, that it’s the shot that does it,” he said. “It’s not the shot that does it. It’s the plant and all that stuff. Someone could hit me or chop block me or do all that, that’s not the problem. It’s the plant and the change of direction and all that stuff that you worry about when you come back from this type of knee injury.”
