It seemed like about two months ago that Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson was on his way out of San Diego and on the streets after eight great seasons with the Bolts. After a rough early part of the offseason though, Tomlinson and the team were finally able to play nice, and L.T. re-did his deal so he could remain with the team that he started with.
He is now happy, and after a weekend at the team’s first mini-camp, looks like the old L.T., and a player that is ready to get back to form after a tough 2008 season filled with injuries. “It’s just good to get out and run around again,” Tomlinson said. “And be healthy.”
You can say that again. The Bolts need L.T., and they need him to be the Tomlinson of seasons past. Not 2008 mind you when he ran for a career-low 1,110 yards, but the one that was league MVP and the best running back in the league putting up yards in bunches.
The first test though for Tomlinson was being able to get on the field again, injury free, and ready to show the league that he can once again dominate the NFL. “L.T. looks great,” coach Norv Turner said. “He has been out here running for a month, so he didn’t show anything different.”
If he can get back to form, the back that Chargers fans are use to seeing should be a force once again in 2009 for San Diego.
