Chargers to Talk to a Couple Defensive College Prospects

SignonSanDiego.com is reporting that the Chargers are going to talk to a couple of defensive players as we get closer to the 2009 NFL Draft:

William Moore, a safety from Missouri rising up many boards and projected to be taken in the second round, is in town visiting the Chargers.

LSU defensive end Tyson Jackson, a middle-of-the-first projection, will be here next week. So will USC inside linebacker Rey Maualuga and Missouri defensive tackle Ziggy Hood, both probable mid-to-late first rounders. Likely second-round defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert of San Jose State will be here Thursday.

For the 100th time, I caution that visits are not the end-all in deciphering what a team will do in the draft. Reading too much into who a team brings in can confuse the process.

But knowing that the Chargers’ would like to pick up a second-round pick and that teams immediately behind them might want to move up, it’s starting to make for some exciting possibilities come April 25.
