Chargers Won’t Raise Ticket Prices in 09

Coming off a season in which it appears they won’t be in the postseason, the Chargers stated today they will not raise the price of season tickets for the 2009 season. Regular-season prices will remain at $48 per game, while seats in the club section will begin at $140 per game.

The team also said it will lower the price on approximately 1,300 tickets next year in expanded family sections. The season ticket price in those sections will be $48 per game and alcohol will be banned.

“We have listened to the many fans who are interested in bringing their family and sitting in the family section,” executive vice president A.G. Spanos, the grandson of owner Alex Spanos, said in a statement. “With these changes for 2009, the Chargers will now have one of the largest designated family areas in the NFL.”

The team needed help from the local Fox affiliate and the NFL Network to guarantee sellouts of its last two games and lift the local TV blackout.
