The Chargers continued practice on Monday with two workouts as they prepare for preseason play. Wide receiver Vincent Jackson impressed quarterback Philip Rivers with a strong performance during the morning’s closed session. Fans were allowed at the afternoon practice after 12-thousand people watched workouts over the weekend.
The Chargers held a series of workouts at Chargers Park over the weekend. The Chargers completed their first practice with pads on Sunday as players compete for positions on the team. Workouts will continue this week, but will be closed off to the public.
The Chargers have agreed to a five-year contract with Antoine Cason. The first-round draft pick from the University of Arizona will reportedly get six-million-dollars guaranteed and can make over 12-million from added incentives. Cason will join practice today where he will compete for a cornerback position.
The Chargers have made DE Luis Castillo a very rich man, signing him Tuesday to a deal that will pay him about $43 million with a five-year extension. Castillo will get a guaranteed $17.5 mil in signing and roster bonuses. The deal that he signed with the team as a rookie in 2005 was set [...]
After not finding a trading partner, it appears that the Chargers have cut ties with WR Eric Parker. Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the team have released the wide out, who started 12 games back in 2006. Parker that season caught 48 passes for 659 yards, but missed all of last season [...]
The Chargers have signed two draft picks to four-year contracts. Third-round running back Jacob Hester and sixth-round cornerback DeJuan Tribble signed deals with the team. First-rounder Antoine Cason remains as the only draft pick without a deal.

The foot injury to Chargers C Nick Hardwick might be more serious than originally thought. Although the team was hoping to get him back by Week One, we hear that his March foot surgery could sideline him into October, meaning he’s a possible candidate for the physically-unable-to-perform list.
Today the Chargers came to terms with with two of the team’s 2008 draft picks. The team inked today running back Marcus Thomas, a fifth-round pick, and offensive tackle Corey Clark, a seventh-rounder. Thomas ran for more than 1,100 yards last season for UTEP, and Clark was a two-year starter at Texas A&M.
