Chargers Dump Three Vets - Neal, McCree & Olivea
Posted by Matt Loede on February 28th, 2008 filed in NewsThe Chargers have dumped three players just hours before the start of free agency, including fullback Lorenzo Neal, safety Marlon McCree and right tackle Shane Olivea. GM A.J. Smith told the media that all three players requested their release so they can look to sign elsewhere, and the Chargers granted them their wish. Olivea, who has three years left on his deal, lost his starting job to Jeromy Clary midway through the season. McCree’s release will free up the safety spot for Eric Weddle. Neal was reportedly on the trading block, so his release does not come as much of a surprise.
