The Chargers have been on a hiring spree, although technically, only one is a true hiring while the others are renewed contracts.  The team announced the re-hiring of Ollie Wilson as running backs coach Thursday; he signed a two-year deal.  The Chargers also signed 3 of their current coaches to 2-year contracts: special teams coach Steve Crosby, quarterbacks coach John Ramsdell and offensive line coach Hal Hunter, Jr.

While Wilson’s signing upon first glance doesn’t sound like a big deal, it actually is.  For those of you who follow the Chargers, you know that Wilson had previously coached with the team from 1997-2001.  But more importantly, he helped Chargers running back LaDanian Tomlinson set a team rookie record with 1,236 yards, 10 touchdowns and 1,603 total yards from the line of scrimmage.  Tomlinson, while he did win the NFL rushing title, didn’t have a typical year that he usually would have.  Hence the Wilson hiring.
