All Cromartie does is Make Plays; He Deserves to Play More

Amongst the frustrations of watching the Chargers underachieve this season there has been one surprising bright spot. Antonio Cromartie has stepped up and lit up the field with big plays. In the last 3 games Cromartie has 5 INT’s and 3 TD’s. He leads the league in interceptions with 6, for a guy who has only started one game, which is pretty impressive. He has returned those interceptions for a total of 118 yards and 1 TD. Cromartie also recovered a fumble in the endzone to score a TD against the Texans. And who could forget his record breaking 109-yard missed FG return against the Vikings. That’s a total of 227 yards and 3 TD’s. Only Antonio Gates and LaDainian Tomlinson have scored more TD’s this season.

The starting CB’s have only one interception between them. Drayton Florence has the one pick while Quentin Jammer hasn’t intercepted a pass since week 13 of last season. Jammer is optimistic about being able to play Sunday against Jacksonville. If he is able to play Sunday, the coaching staff should give serious thought to starting Cromartie anyways. Cromartie makes plays while Jammer makes penalties.
