What is already a suspect Chargers secondary took a hit when, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, cornerback Quentin Jammer will probably miss Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Jammer told the U-T, “This is a big game and Peyton (Manning) is one of those quarterbacks I like to play against. It’s him and (Tom) Brady at the top of the league. And (Colts receiver) Marvin Harrison. If you don’t play, you kind of kick yourself. At the same time, I don’t want to go in and pop it and be out the rest of the season. This is the time to be smart. I probably shouldn’t have played last week.”
After Jammer starained his hamstring against Houston on October 28, he started at CB against Minnesota the following week and re-aggravated the injury. As a result, he has not practiced all week, and Chargers head coach Norv Turner said it would be surprising if Jammer played at all. In the likely event that Jammer doesn’t play on Sunday, reserve CB Warren Cromartie would get his first start.
