Another Solid Few Days of Camp for the Bolts

The DB’s have been pretty impressive in the first few days in camp. SS’s Clinton Hart and rookie Eric Weddle have been playing very well. Weddle is matching up with TE Antonio Gates often at practice and he has been playing him tough. Having to cover the best TE in the NFL is going to help Weddle get better quickly. Weddle told the San Diego Union Tribune, “It’s good for me. I’m going against the best tight end in the game in practice. I’m going to be OK in games.” The SS position will play host to one of the most competitive position battles this training camp.

CB Antonio Cromartie has shown a great amount of improvement. Experience has definitely paid off for him. He is more comfortable now and that allows his impressive athletic ability to shine through. Look for him to make some huge contributions this season.

Shane Olivea has yet to practice because of a stomach virus. Cory Lekkerkerker and Jerome Clary have been splitting the reps with the first team. OT Roman Oben has also sat out a practice because of a sore foot. That same practice rookie WR Craig Davis also did not work out because of tendonitis in his knee. WR Eric Parker has not practiced very much because of a toe injury. On the defensive side, rookie LB Anthony Waters sat out a morning practice while DE Jacques Cesaire and S Bhawoh Jue joined him on the sidelines.

The good thing for the Chargers is that none of these injuries are very serious and shouldn’t have an effect on week 1.
