Sports Ticker reports that the San Diego Chargers on Friday agreed to terms on a new contract with tight end Brandon Manumaleuna. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The new deal will keep the 27-year-old Manumaleuna in San Diego through the 2009 season.
“Brandon’s ability to contribute in both the run game and the passing game were key to our success in 2006,” general manager A.J. Smith said. “He’s an extremely talented blocker but showed last year that he can make a tough catch when we need him to. We’re thrilled to have him locked up for another year.” The seventh-year pro had 14 receptions for 91 yards and three touchdowns last season.
